How to Format a Research Paper?

To achieve good marks for your work you also need to ensure that your research paper is properly formatted-

The following guide for research paper formatting will help you to format your research paper is an organized manner

Research Paper Document Format

  1. Paper: Use clean, good quality 8 1/2″ x 11″ white paper, one side only.
  2. Margins: Leave margins of your work 1″ (2.5 cm) at the top, bottom, left and right sides of each and every page.
  3. Title Page: A title page is not necessary for a research paper unless it is specifically instructed by your mentor.

If you don’t have a title page, you may begin 1″ from the top of the first page of your work and your name start from flushed against the left margin. Then under your name, on separate lines, double-spaced, and flushed against the left margin, type your Mentor’s name, your course name, and code, and then date.

If your mentor tells for the first page of your essay not be numbered, you will begin numbering with page 2.

After the date use double space. On a new line, the title of your essay should be in a center. If your paper title is long, use double space between the line of the title

For Example:

John 1

Anderson John

Mr. Williamson

11 June 2019

Global Warming: Causes and effect

Avoid writing your title all in capital letters. Do not put quotations marks before and after the title. Do not underline the title. Proper names of people, places and important words should be capitalized in the title, but conjunctions and prepositions are normally written in lower case letters, for Example: The Ozone Layer is Effecting. The same rule applies as well to headings and subheadings.

Follow the same capitalization rules for acronyms, upper case each letter, e.g. NASSA would be written in upper case as it is the acronym. for Noradrenergic and Specific Serotonergic Antidepressants. When using an acronym, especially a rare one, you must tell what the letters stand for Example: Noradrenergic and Specific Serotonergic Antidepressant(NASSA).

If your work has a Title Page. Use a format preferred by your Mentor. Otherwise, write your title in the center and each line should have double-spacing on a blank page: name of the school (optional), title of a paper in upper and lower case, course code, course name (optional), Mentor name, your first and last name, and date.

Your separate title page should appear as follows:

Global Warming: Causes and effect

Mr. Williamson

Anderson John

11 June 2019

Don’t write your whole title page with an uppercase letter. It is not necessary to describe and explain your title page for example:

DATE: 11 JUNE 2019

6. Spacing between words

Leave one space between the word and after the comma, semicolon, or colon
