Steps to Write an Essay
Read the question carefully and understand it
This is the most important stage in essay writing. Once you understand the question asked you can be able to identify the type of essay.
Pick a topic
After getting an overview of the essay, you will be in a better condition to choose a more relevant topic. Start with brainstorming of your ideas to choose an interest topic according to the type of essay. If you are facing difficulty while choosing the essay topic, ask you mentor for assistance.
Create an outline
Before you begin your writing use a simple outline. Write your topic at the top of your page, separate your essay into 3 main parts
For a five paragraph essay, introduction, at least three main ideas in body part, and a conclusion. Leave spaces under each idea

- Thesis statement
- Give statistics
- Information on the subject
- Research on the topic
- Relevant data if any
- Recall your main idea statement
- summarize your paper
- Support arguments
Create a thesis statement
You already have a topic and the essay outline. Now it is time to start the writing. Start your essay by creating thesis statement which tell your reader a main purpose of your essay. Thesis statement should have the main argument of your essay. The single statement may have the overall answer of the problem. But write your thesis statement in your first paragraph and make sure you that you mention it multiple times within the essay then retell it in your conclusion.
Write the body paragraphs
This is the main part of the essay in which you are supposed to define, describe, explain or argue the topic. Each of the main ideas carries the separate paragraphs. Paragraph starts with an introductory sentence which conveys the main idea. Remember to cite every reference material used. Quotes must be cited using the required referencing style. Write the introduction paragraph
After creating a thesis statement and the body of the essay. Write an introduction paragraph, it is the first paragraph of your work. Make your introduction attractive to capture the attention of your readers. Begin with a ‘hook’, you can use a quote, dialogue or topic summary. Make sure that your ‘hook’ make link with the thesis statement.
Write the concluding paragraph
This part is the importance part of your work. The conclusion gives you a chance, to summarize your ideas and close up the topic. Make it short, simple and clear. write five to six sentences. Do not present any new ideas at the conclusion; summarize your arguments and retell the main purpose of your work
Edit and proofread your work
Before you finished essay, do the editing and proofreading. Check the essay format and essay structure . Ensure that the you have said all the think you want to. Reread and ensure your work flows smoothly. Check the grammar, spelling, punctuation. Ensure that you write within the word count limit.
